This weekend we listened to general conference in the car as we drove to Manti. My sister Ariel competed in the Miss Manti Scholarship Pageant Saturday night. Millie and I went while Mark stayed with Ivy (who was in bed for the night). I'm really glad we went because Ariel won!!!
The competition included interview, swimsuit, talent, and evening wear/modeling. The first two were done beforehand, then everyone comes for the final two. After Ariel's interview the woman who escorts the contestants in and out (and hears all the interviews) told Ariel that she was the "rock star of interview!" (She was number 8 of 10, so the woman had heard seven interviews before Ariel's.) And my mom said she looked awesome during the swimsuit competition. Millie and I made it for the talent and modeling. Ariel sang "Zing! Went the Strings of My Heart" (a jazzy 40's number) and her sultry voice stole the show!
Here's a picture of the newly-crowned queen in her evening gown. My Grandma Nora is always so proud of her granddaughters when they do well! Congratulations Ariel!

That is awesome. Tell her congrats for me!
I can't believe little Ariel has turned into such a beautiful woman! Where does the time go? She's following in your footsteps, isn't she? Tell her congratulations from me! I love that song, too. I'm a sucker for old music like that.
That is awesome! I was almost went to that until jason sprung a quick trip away for us...sad i missed it! She is so pretty.
How exciting for your sister! And what a cute picture of you and Millie ;)
Fun! I love pageants- I can't even help it. Congrats to your sister! Sounds like a fun trip!
How fun! I'm glad you were able to go. The thing I love about the picture of you and Millie is how your eyes are exactly the same color. =) We missed you on Sunday but hope you had fun with your family.
Congrats to her! I didn't even know Miss Manti was going on. What a great time. I love watching pageants.
Tell her congrats! Weren't you Miss Manti once too? It's weird to see her all grown up, and Deanna too. I remember when we played dress-ups at grandmas and they were always following us around. haha.
Congratulations to Ariel--I would have loved to hear her interview--I'm such a seasoned judge now ;)
Cute picture of you with your sisters!
It is so crazy to see everyone all grown up. Ariel used to be my favorite little drama queen cousin who always wanted me to be the evil woman keeping her in the orphanage (and then I was also to play the kindly woman who adopted her from her dire situation!) Congrats Ariel! That's so special that Grandma got to be there, too.
